A large black bear asleep in our back yard!

Six mule deer pausing to munch grass in our yard on a warm February day.

Saw this banana slug on a hike through the redwoods of the northern California coast. Second biggest species of slug in the world. It was the length of the pen but I accidentally touched it when I set the pen down and, right away, it started to draw its body in.

My family on a camping trip at 9,000 feet in California's eastern Sierra Nevada.
